This workshop is for the beginner or person who has some soapstone carving experience. Sandy will review the use of tools and techniques you will need to carve a sculpture in soapstone. roughed-out pieces of a variety of animals will be provided as well as some basic carving tools. If you have suitable tools bring them along as well as an apron.
If you have soapstone carving experience you may want to build on your skills working on the manatee or one of Sandy’s other designs.
All participants must the members of the Gem and Mineral Club of Scarbrough in good standing.
Everyone should be able to take their piece through all stages and go home with a polished and waxed complete piece.
The workshops will run from 9:00 am to 3 pm at Armour Heights Community Centre ,2140 Avenue Rd at the intersection of Wilson Ave. and Avenue Rd, southwest corner , rooms 1 & 2.
