Chris Fouts’ presentation is, “Why Bancroft is the Mineral Capital of Canada”, a question he has often been asked. He will outline the reasons, as he sees them, covering geology, minerals, economics, and the early history of eastern Ontario.
Speaker’s Bio
Chris has been fascinated by rocks and minerals all his life and it has led him to a degree in Geology, work with the Ontario Geological Survey, consulting work in the exploration industry, the mineral tourism sector, leading field trips for the public and school groups, teaching introductory geology, and into the mineral dealing world. His many years have helped him develop strong mineral identification skills. He has previously operated Mad River Minerals, and now co-owns Lakeside Gems, a full service mineral shop in Bancroft, Ontario.
