This is a class for ANYONE who is interested in learning some basic mineralogy.
It DOES NOT matter if You are a beginner or already have some experience with rocks & minerals.

We will look at basic mineralogical and geological terminology as well as properties that can be used to identify specimens. Notes for the classes will be provided.

All You have to do is bring yourself to the class. Also, feel free to bring some of your own specimens.

As a general rule, the group meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month from between noon and 4:00 pm. On occasion, this schedule will vary due to holiday weekends, schedule conflicts etc. Please refer to the monthly newsletter for exact dates on any given month.

Registration in advance is necessary so the appropriate number of note packages can be prepared. It will be done on a first-come / first served basis. Please do not just show up and expect to be admitted. To register, contact David Bellamy at (647)967-4582 or at blootang23@rogers.com.

Location
Since the rooms are locked, we must be escorted to the Geology Lab by a UofT employee; therefore, it is essential that you arrive before Noon and that we are ready to leave the premises by 4:00 pm. We gather in the lobby of the building before the session and go with our UofT escort to the geology lab together.
The group meets at the Environmental Science and Chemistry Building at the University of Toronto / Scarborough Campus, which is at 1065 Military Trail (first building on the right as you go South down Military Trail from the intersection with Morningside).

There’s lots of visitor parking opposite the building for a modest fee.
